I would definately recommend The Algonquin to others. We were treated with respect at all times. They let us check in early and held our bags for a few hours after we checked out. It was an okay price for New York. Everything was modern and clean.

We love the location of the hotel, the very friendly people at the front desk, the cat who lives at the hotel, and the bar downstairs. The rooms are small but clean and well furnished. It is our second stay at this hotel and we will stay there again if we can afford it. With Skoosh it was affordable and a great value for the money. We recommend the hotel and hope you have as nice a stay as we did.

The hotel is full of golden traditions and wonderful lore for those who are acquainted with the Algonquin Roundtable and the literary past. that exists there. This is not a glitzy hotel and will not appeal to those seeking the latest luxuries of modern 21st century rather than the experience of being there. But for those who come prepared with knowledge of the rich literary background it is indeed a grand experience.
All on the staff are most pleasant and helpful. and create a small. personable environment where you feel that this is indeed a place where everyone knows your name. Matilda, the resident cat in charge, will even make you feel welcomed.

A Great Place To Stay

The Alongquin exceeded or met all of our expectations. The location was superb, and the hotel staff was extremely friendly. In many ways staying at the Alogonquin was like staying at a quaint inn. Although the room was small, the atmosphere of the hotel made up for it. Complimentary coffee is available all day on the second floor. Complimentary coffee and tea, as well as a variety of newspapers, are available in the lobby each morning. The workout room was small but met my needs. Although this is not the cheapest hotel we have stayed at in NYC, it was well worth what we paid, and we plan to return.

Fabulous location & Concierge

I would recommend this hotel for it's location and wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. The ambiance is also quite lovely in the lobby sitting/bar area. What we didn't like was the extremely small room and only a full size bed. They graciously moved us to an equally small room with a King size bed when I called & complained about not knowing we'd be getting a small bed and had trouble regulating the heating system. The concierge was fabulous with great ideas, suggestions that turned out to be wonderful and all around an interesting and friendly person who made our stay feel worth it. Most of all we loved the location-Bryant Park, Broadway shows, Times Square & restaurant row all right there. We walked alot further in both directions too, including Rockerfeller Plaza, Central Park and Lower Manhattan, and found it great exercise after meals. Expectations were met.
