Blue Moon Hotel -
In its April 2008 issue, National Geographic Traveler cites the Blue MoonHotel as one of the best boutique and luxury hotels in the United States, canada, Mexico, and the carribean. The magazine's list includes 150 hotelsselected from 600 semi-finalists. The Blue Moon is especially honored tobe one of only three New York City hotels listed by the magazine. Guests are welcome upon arrival with a complimentary glasss of wine, and the hotel offers a free gym pass valid for an entire day to each room and the Luxury and the Quintessential rooms have free parking for each day of their stay. The new and much-celebrated Blue Moon Hotel on Orchard Street is destined to become a legend just as the 22 celebrities the guest rooms are named after. This boutique Manhattan hotel leads the resurgence of the landmark old downtown neighborhoods of Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho and the Financial District.
The hotel, an outstanding architectural structure, is centrally located on a museum block which more closely represents a back lot from MGM. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of New York’s most socially vibrant neighborhood. Area Details:Walk along cobblestone streets once occupied by push cart vendors, pickle packers, butchers, and bakers, now populated by a host of eclectic shops and a myriad of bars, restaurants and lounges. New York City's historic past has come to life in this authentic yet modern and comfortable neighborhood hotel. Nearby attractions include the Tenement Museum, South Street Seaport, Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island and the Financial District as well as theaters, galleries, historical houses of worship, or take any of the conveniently located trains: B, D, F, J, M, Z, and arrive in midtown in 5-10 minutes. Recreation:Guests can enjoy complimentary fruit and tea in the lobby, and the front desk is open 24 hours. Internet access is available as well.

Blue Moon is out of this world

Review by: JayMac , Westport, United States

Stayed: Apr 2009

Visited on a weekend and got a great price. The hotel was all that was advertised and more. Especially the staff, who were attentive and very helpful. A rare treat in the vanilla NYC hotel market.

Great Hotel, So-So Location

Review by: Hola Kaytal , Rochester, United States

Stayed: Jun 2008

This hotel was quite nice. More Eurpoean in its stylings than American. Clean room, spartan furnishings and quiet, brightly lit halls.

As a business traveler, however, I would have preferred a Midtown location, and I didn't realize how far off the beaten path the Lower East Side truly is. That's no disrespect to the hotel itself ... it is where it is ... but when you're there, you definitely feel like your "off the grid." For instance, there isn't a neat line of yellow taxes parked anxiously outside the door ... the desk clerk had to call one both times that I left the hotel. And although the subway is just a few short blocks away, you're still a good 20 minutes from Midtown. I know the LES is trendy and all, but I probably wouldn't stay here again because of the proximity issues.
