Review Shoreham Hotel

Shoreham

 3/5

Review by: , Saint Petersburg, United States

Stayed: Mar 2012

I would rate this hotel more 3.5 stars than the four star ratings by others that I reviewed before booking. The room was a decent size. The linens were very nice. But the bed was not that comfortable and neither were the pillows. Some comfort upgrades are needed before I would give it four stars.

However, the staff was excellent - the front desk was outstanding. The room and bathroom were always very clean upon our return at the end of the day. It was also very quiet.

Nice hotel, Great location

Shoreham is a very nice european style boutique hotel in a great location. I really liked that the hotel includes wifi in the cost of the reservation and offers coffee, tea, espresso free at a self service espresso bar. If you are use to staying at a Marriott or other big chain you may find the room decor and layout a little quirky, I personally prefer this style of hotel.

Stayed 3 nights @ the Shoreham. After reading reviews here and on Tripadvisor, I was a little concerned, but all turned out very well. For two of us, the Queen Room was fine...it's not big, but NYC rooms aren't. Nicely appointed and the bed was good. The hotel staff were great, and there are a lot of little extras that made it positive - free NY Times daily, the cappucino machine, wifi, etc. The dance music in the elevators probably could go, but it's a small detail. If you have kids or you're looking to spend tonnes of time in the room, it may not be a best destination. But for the price we got it on Skoosh, it was a great value. The location is outstanding if you're wanting Midtown.

Great location, close to all the major shopping venues, theater, and eateries. The hotel is clean and the massage chair in the room is heaven sent for tired muscles.
24 hour access to a great cappuccino machine.
Place is run with minimal staff, but efficiently.
The TV in the room needs to be updated.

overall the Shoreham is a good value for the money. Highly recommend.

Excellent Boutique Hotel in Great Location

 5/5

I would recommend this hotel to others - clean, modern, with helpful staff and nice touches to help it stand out - champagne at check-in, 24-hour cappuccino machine, excellent street-front bar, etc.

Our room was very small (but typical for a NYC hotel room), and had a view of the building next door (again, not atypical), but was set up very efficiently. We couldn't figure out how to use the phone in our room...?!?! Also inconvenient that the prices for the service bar were not near the bar itself.

Skoosh gave us an amazing value for our money for this hotel. Our expectations were more than met.

Great Stay at the Shoreham

 4/5

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Shoreham. The room wasn't big, but it was very comfortable and quiet, which is priceless in NYC. The location was great, we were able to walk to Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza and Times Square, and the F line was right around the corner so we could easily get where we were going. We enjoyed a big glass of champagne when we checked in, plus the complimentary espresso/coffee/hot chocolate machine in the lobby was a nice bonus - the hot chocolate with steamed milk was an especially nice treat for me as I don't drink coffee. It also saved us some money since we didn't have to go to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts once. The complimentary Wi-Fi was also nice. I would definitely stay there again, especially if I was able to get that good of a deal again.

Not too bad...

My room was tiny for 2 ppl. I felt slightly cramped b/c the bed took up most of the space. The window faced another bldg (it was ugly - so shades were always closed). I could always here ppl outside my door.

Other than that, furniture was modern looking. The bathroom was nice too. Great amenities --> from Aveda. The hotel also provided free coffee/tea in the lobby.

My biggest issue though is housekeeping. Our housekeeper decided not to clean our bathroom, BUT they helped themselves to cleaning the rest of our room. Meaning, things that weren't in the trash, ended up in their trash. Ex. My friend had a tux hanging by the closet, & the housekeeper threw away the receipt, hangers, & cufflinks.

Also, their parking garage is more $$$ than ones on their street. They also scratched our car.

(Manager resolved the housekeeping issue)
