Carlton

The Carlton is an older hotel - as a result, the windows provide little if any insulation against outside noise. Unfortunately, a truck was unloading across the street from 11pm to midnight and was quite loud. On the plus side, the hotel is very clean, service was good (especially the front desk). The room I was in was rather small (OK for one, would have been cramped for two). It is also conveniently located - 6 blocks or so to Madison Square Gardens, 8 blocks to Penn Station, etc.

The hotel was conveniently located for me, and my walk into work. My room was small, as expected, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very nice. My alarm clock was not set back with the time change, and when I called to have someone come change it, and also show me how to use it, no one came. My phone was not labeled and my air-conditioning unit was falling apart and from the wall. We ate at the restaurant country the first night we were in town. the food was very good, and the pre fix menu was a great deal, but it took1 and 1/2 hours to have an appitizer and entre, and there were only 4 other tables eating at the same time as us. We were there so long, we have to take our deserts with us back to our rooms.

Good location, clean room, good value. Room was surprisingly spacious. The linens were nice. Our room had a couch, sitting chair and desk. Very comfortable, especially by NYC standards. Would definitely return when visiting NYC. Originally had a issue with the size of our bed. A call to Skoosh promptly remedied this issue with no hassle. Kudos to Tom at Skoosh for taking care of this prior to our arrival. A few dollars more, but worth it. Very recommended.

I would recommend this hotel to others. But I got skeezed out with the linen item in the top drawer of the "dresser" that was under the flat panel tv. That tells me the cleaning staff didn't check it. Other than that the room was comfy but a tad on the small size - room was about 12x15 and bathroom was 5x7. Pleasant staff and great location. Fixtures all high end. Shower was NICE.

This is the second time we've stayed at the Carlton on Madison. Both times were a treat.
Skoosh had a standard double for the dates we wanted for $160 per night, everywhere else was over $200.
Great location too. Would definitely return.
