Great hotel lacking in service

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — The hotel is beautiful and I love being surrounded in all of it's history. I had an impossible time getting in touch with the concierge on at least 5 occasions. It took about 25 minutes of waiting in line to check in. They handle a large number of people and it is obvious. I didn't feel special. The service at the restaurant was adequate but not great. The best service that we received was for afternoon tea. The room was very big on the 25th floor and on a corner. It was a wonderful room that only lacked an adequate place to put on makeup. I would recommend this hotel only if you were to get a good price for the stay. It has a lot of history and I loved much of the old architecture. It is in a great location only a couple blocks from Saks.

Needs a Facelift

Although the hotel was clean and the staff friendly, it is in serious need of a renovation. I expected much much more from the Waldorf-Astoria. Hilton needs to invest some $$ to save this regal lady.

Quintessential grand old NYC hotel

Yes, the check-in line is long and the lobby can resemble a commuter depot, but this is a beautiful old hotel and we had outstanding service despite the crowds (hotel was completely full). We had a large and spacious room, and new bath, and could not have been more pleased.

Wonderful Stay!

Great hotel with lots of history! Beautiful stay and very centrally located. You can walk to many attractions and there is a double-decker bus tour that has a pick up location at the hotel. We enjoyed the Bull & Bear restaurant in the hotel, too! Great steaks!
