Reviews Of Lord Elgin Hotel, Ottawa,

Review by: Peter, Rugby, United Kingdom

Stayed: Jan 2010

This was our fourth stay at the Elgin, this time over the Christmas/New Year period. It's still excellent value for money with supremely comfortable beds. My only gripe is that the valet parking at $20 a day plus taxes and tips is a bit steep.

The location of the hotel was perfect since it is within walking distance of many of Ottawa's main attractions. Although old, the hotel has a great ambience, the bathrooms have been updated and the rooms quite comfortable.

Sunday brunch was both plentiful, well presented and the wait staff pleasant and capable as was the rest of the Lord Elgin staff.

Our only complaint is that we found the hotel corridors noisy, perhaps our room was a little too close to the elevator?

I visited Ottawa with my son in May of 2007. We both were impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of all staff at this hotel. The location was excellant for sightseeing, shopping, concerts, and renting bikes. It was well worth the money! We ate breakfast two mornings at the hotel and felt the prices were reasonable, the menu/buffet selection great with the wait staff being very helpful and friendly.

The rooms were spacious, the beds comfy , and we had lots of towels.
We were in town to see Leonard Cohen perform, which by the way was a terrific experience, but througly enjoyed everything else the beautiful city if Ottawa has to offer. Ottawa is a great city to visit with lots of pubs, bars and restaurants to help quench your thirst or satisfy your hunger.

It is getting better but if do not ask for a good room thy will give the worst room available.

Although the hotel is a little gray around the ears, the service was great and the rooms clean and comfortable. My room was a little drafty, but I would definitely recommend the Lord E for its location and charm.

The hotel was a nice one. In looking at the normal price per night, what I paid was much lower. The room was small for one or maybe two at the most. I would pay more if I was going back with more than two. The hotel is in a great location in the city. Well worth the mony.

All staff were very pleasant, eager to help, which made our 4 night stay enjoyable.

Rooms were updated and clean. Skoosh gave us value for our money with the cheapest Lord Elgin quote.

Pool water on cool side, hot tub & sauna made up for it.

Would recommend Skoosh & Lord Elgin Hotel

Highly recommend this hotel, staff very friendly & helpful, rooms are lovely, only down side is that our room overlooked the roof area containing the air-con units which were noisy. Hotel is in perfect cental location, just around corner from Parliament buildings where you can view the changing of the guards and the evening sound & light show.
