Prague Sights
Exploring the Old Town is a monumental task.
Sightseeing in Prague means wandering through an invigorating diversity of neighbourhoods and pounding the cobblestones between old fortifications, historically resplendent squares and streets, majestic church-fronts, green open-air cuttings, and countless museum and gallery ticket booths.
Prague Nightlife
Riddled with theatres, bars and live-music joints.
Prague's past plays a big part in its entertainment scene by providing centuries-old stone cellars for musicians to blaze away in, sculpted facades for beerhalls to make noise behind, or grand auditoriums for the staging of classical events. Competing with these are suavely modern bars and clubs.
Shopping Prague
Prague's shopping scene is a lot more multi-faceted than crystal.
Prices are getting steeper but there are still plenty of bargains, and hunting them through the city's dim winding streets can be half the fun. Beautiful items like Bohemian crystal, garnets and traditional ceramics sit beside inspired home-grown fashions, music, decorative glassware and wines.
Franz Kafka Monument
Monument,
Literary
Jaroslav Róna's unusual sculpture of a mini-Franz sitting piggyback on his own headless body was unveiled in 2003. Commissioned by Prague's Franz Kafka Society, it's beside the Spanish Synagogue.
Maisel Synagogue
Museum,
Religious/spiritual
The neogothic Maisel Synagogue replaced a Renaissance original built by Maisel and destroyed by fire. It houses another exhibit of ceremonial silver, textiles, prints and books.

Jewish Cemetery
Cemetery,

Franz Kafka is buried in this cemetery, which opened around 1890 when the previous Jewish cemetery - now at the foot of the TV Tower - was closed. To find Kafka's grave, follow the main avenue east (signposted), turn right at row 21, then left at the wall; it's at the end of the 'block'. Fans make a pilgrimage on 3 June, the anniversary of his death.
