Enjoying a fantastic location in the very heart of Prague just behind the Old Town Square in the historical Tyn Courtyard, the 4 star Metamorphis Hotel is a valuable historical monument protected by UNESCO, and a luxurious and central base from which to explore this most beautiful city. The hotel's name is derived from the numerous reconstructions in its long history - dating back to the 9th century when 3 houses were on the site. The Blue House from which the building is rebuilt was destroyed by fire in 1689 and reconstructed retaining many of the old features including the original gate and basement ceiling, now the awe-inspiring Club Restaurant. All 36 rooms are sensitively set into the original historical building and are spacious and originally furnished. All are air-conditioned and equipped with modern amenities including radio, satellite TV, internet access, minibar safe, tea/coffee making facilities and sofa. As well as the Club restaurant, guests can also enjoy Italian meals, desserts and beverages in a cosy setting overlooking the Tyn Church spires. The covered summer terrace is open April to October. (Guests booking a triple room should note that these will consist of a double room with an extra bed.)

What a difference care and attentions make

Splendid location, in the heart of magic Prague, picturesque, clean, some gentle personnel, acceptable breakfast buffet... But too far from 4 star minimums: no lift and not a sign of help for taking heavy luggage upstairs, up to at least three stages; not a nice reception already at checking in, few smiles - people can feel not very welcome; poor cooperative attitude from reception (asking for a corkscrew for some moments, I got the chippy information they didn't do "that kind of service"!); needing to iron a suit, after informing reception with no objections the night before scheduled time, in the morning I was said that the laundry service wasn't available - no suggested alternative, no help, making me loose part of the day... Lack of professionalism. Not to recommend.

Room was lovely, though faced the street outside, which meant it was very noisy. However, we used some earplugs, and it was not a problem. Very clean, which we appreciated! The food was excellent in the cafe and restaurant. One receptionist, the one who were there the first two nights/evenings of our stay was very little helpful, and appeared to think guests were an inconvenience! The daytime girl was lovely though, and was happy to help! All in all, a wonderful hotel, and great location!

The accommodation was in a great location, although sometimes noisy because of the nearby re-cycling area. The hotel room was clean and well presented. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and polite. The breakfast was disappointing, limited to fruit, bread and more bread! The hotel restaurants get extremely busy so booking is essential but don't rely on the menu in the room because it's out of date.
