Good value for the money. First floor rear side room was noisy due to some machinery noise outside. Would recommend a room on a higher floor in the front of the building.

Unfriendly staff and dingy room

This hotel was the worst of our six hotels in Canada. We knew to expect it to be a bit faded, with more of a French feel than American. The reception staff were curt, maybe because they knew we were getting the smallest room in the hotel, and in the basement too. The room was dingy - you could see the legs of passers by, and cramped - we had to step aside to allow the other one to pass. The TV didn't work during the 4 nights of our stay. Not that reception told us - we found out from the TV engineer who kept entering the room unannounced. Then the telephone instructions for phoning abroad were wrong. Luckily we had good weather and loved Quebec City. The only thing going for this hotel is its position. Maybe they have better rooms!

When we arrived the staff was cordial and professional. I was initially disappointed when we discovered that the downstairs corridor where we were staying was under renovation, and that we had requested a King or Queen bed and got two doubles instead. However, I was too tired to complain and that is my fault.
Those were the only disappointments. The room was beautifully furnished, and the staff went out of their way to help us find the tours we wanted. The continental breakfast was a great way to start each morning. After a day of sightseeing, and dining in Quebec's wonderful restaurants, the self service wine bar was a great place to unwind.
The only people I would not recommend it to would be those who have trouble with stairs. You must climb eight steps to enter the hotel.

I stayed at the Hotel Chateau Bellevuel for four nights. The location of the hotel is excellent. The hotel is located in front of a park and located at a walking distance place from Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac. The complimentary wireless internet connection at the room serves a high speed of the 1 Mb/s. The sound interception from the next room is insufficient.
