After a long flight to Costa Rica we arrived to the Rincon de San Jose. We could see that the neighborhood was rough but our experience at the hotel was shocking. We pulled up in our rented vehicle with our luggage and belongings and parked in front of the hotel. We range the buzzer for the attendant who let us in. He told us we had to park down the block-off site. Being tired, we told him we would drop off our luggage then move the car. We did so and as we came back to our vehicle the window was smashed out and the entire car was rummaged through. Luckily our luggage was in the hotel but everything left in our vehicle...a leather coat, camera and some small items were stolen. Not feeling safe, I insisted we leave and asked for a refund but the Recon Hotel Manager refused.
