If you don't mind walking up 64 steps to the third floor and sharing the facilities, you will enjoy this hotel. The service was good, the rooms were clean, and the complimentary breakfast was terrific. It is about four blocks from the Metro.

Good clean hotel, friendly staff, nice old building, walking distance to centre and main sights of Stockholm and underground station only 5 minutes walk away. We stayed in a large airy twin room, very clean, shared facilities were good and clean. Buffet style breakfast was enough for anyone, cereals and yogurt, breads and jams, cheeses, cold meats and boiled eggs, plenty of strong coffee and selection of teas to wake you up.
Would recommend shared facility rooms to friends or couples on a (non romantic) city break.

Although we only stayed for one night, the overall ambiance of the hotel was good, nice clean rooms (quite large as well). Breakfast was fine. It is situated near a subway and it was just a 10 minutes walk to Gamla Stan, old Stockholm. I would recommend it to anyone!

We arrived early in the day and they actually had a room ready for us. However, due to my wife's recent ankle sprain, the 3rd floor was too far. They got another room for us on the 2nd floor in a quiet location. They were very willing to give us all the ice needed for her ankle. They helped getting us to a bus nearby to see the sights, even copying a bus route map for us to take along. The hotel was very convenient to the old town and other sights.
The breakfast was very good. We found the Columbus Hotell an excellent value, made even better by the attentive and helpful staff.

Stayed: May 2008

This is a gem for budget to medium price level travelers, with rooms of various standard on offer. Located in the building of an old brewery it offers very friendly and efficient inner city character. The staff is very polite and helpful at all times, the breakfast buffet is plenty and should suit most tastes. More over the location is great right in the heart of the city but in a residential area, which makes it fairly quit during nights.
