Reviews of Yankee Pedlar Inn Torrington

Review by: Marty, Pickerington, United States

This is a VERY old hotel. Our room was on the third floor and the only elevator was not self-service. One had to ask a desk clerk to operate it. The stairs were very steep and there was a bannister on only one side. Not particularly user-friendly for older or physically challenged guests. The mattress was very springy and required us to hold on to an edge to keep from rolling into the middle. Our two faucet sink did not have a stopper. There was no AC. The continental breakfast was pretty pitiful... toast, butter (no jelly), dry cereal or oatmeal, coffee, tea and OJ. Parking was very limited and required backing out of the lot to access the street. I would look elsewhere to stay on our next visit to NW CT.

If you like feeling like you're in a bygone era, then you might get a kick out of Pedlar's Inn. The amenities however are also like those of a past day.
There was minimal air conditioning in room- old unit that was only partially functioning.
The double beds for our double room were actually twin beds.
There is no ice machine- front desk gets ice out of kitchen.
However, our room was spacious. had hair dryer, cable TV and comfortable enough (aside from inadequate AC).
The overall aura of the place is interesting; it has maintained furnishings from the late 1880's that you wouldn't see authentically at most places.
Location is good- right in center of town, although Torrington is almost a ghost town.
