Ai Mori D'Oriente is a 4 star hotel in Venice.
Enjoying a great location in an area exclusively reserved for local Venetians, the 4-star Ai Mori d'Oriente hotel offers a romantic and calm setting from which to enjoy and explore this most evocative of cities. Named after Turkish tradesmen, "mori", who for centuries lived in this beautiful palace, the hotel offers guests contemporary accommodation equipped with air conditioning, mini- bar, hair drier, direct-dial telephone, satellite television, radio, safe, and Internet connection point - additionally there is a breakfast room, bar and reading room. Guests can rely on being seduced by the exotic atmosphere of the hotel's furnishings which hark back to the times of oriental merchants, and traders, plying their trade on the "Silk Route" which had Venice as its main port. No more than a short 10 minutes' walk from Rialto Bridge, the Ai Mori d'Oriente offers visitors a fascinating insight into the real Venice and, also, easy access to charming restaurants frequented by locals rather than tourists.
This is an excellent hotel in a wonderful location. We had secured a good rate (well good for Venice!) on a triple room with breakfast. The reception staff were polite, efficient and friendly and made my wife, 12 year old son and myself very welcome. The bar staff less so. Breakfast was served in a pleasant room and was "typically continental" although hot dishes could be purchased for a small supplement. Our room was on the ground floor and had been adapted for use with a wheelchair and it was beautiful - it just had one small drawback - no windows. Given the price we had paid I didn't expect a canal view but I didn't think a window was unreasonable. We were not bothered and we didn't complain but some might be and should.

Was good value considering we were in Vence but as in other hotels the service and beverage charges were expensive(beware also that the internet was not free in the lobby ,€5 for half an hour). We don't know either whether we just got unlucky or if this is what a standard room is like at this hotel but our room was very small ,there was not even a bedside light on both sides of the bed.We wonder if it was really a single room as it had a very small 'double' bed and would have been better suited to one person, so beware if you are offered room 415 .Overall though don't want to put anyone off staying here - very polite and helpful staff, buffet breakfast well stocked, very clean rooms and public areas and the position we felt was charming and just a little off the tourist track.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff were so friendly and helpful and it is placed in the quiet area of Cannarregio. In the evening we were able to stroll along the canal for a quiet meal at one of the reasonably priced restaurants. Will definitely return, hopefully in 2010.

We managed to get this fantastic hotel at a brilliant rate. Considering some of the other places I've stayed in Venice, this place was excellent. I liked that it was a bit of a walk from San Marco's in a quiet, almost residential area that felt more typically Venetian. The rooms were large and very comfortable. Thoroughly recommended.

Ai Mori D'Oriente is an elegant, tasteful hotel, impeccably decorated and a very pleasant to stay in Venice. An excellent value as well. The one drawback, which may be significant for some travelers, is that the hotel is located relatively far from the closest vaparetto (water bus) stop. It is not easy to reach if carrying any significant amount of luggage, unless you are willing to pay the exorbitant water taxi fare (55 - 60 euros). However, once you reach it, the hotel is beautiful and gracious in every respect.
