Well located right in the center of Vienna, with very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and tidy, with a breath of history and furniture to match. The hotel could use a bit of facelift, and the fact that one has to pay for wireless is a bit of a downturn. If you are lucky, you can get online through a neighboring restaurant's wi-fi.

The mark of time on this hotel is clearly visible. Furniture, fixtures as well as the shower tiles remember the past. While the location is really central, the hotel feels bit tired, though clean. The size of the bathroom was really tiny, for taller people it might remind of airplane. So if you are a holidaymaker that cares more about the location you will be fine. The room was clean, towels were nice, breakfast was acceptable (with a bit narrower selection than what one would expect in 4*)

Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Vienna. Its within walking distance of pretty much everything- being just round the corner from St Stephensdom.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The only comment I would make is that we booked 3 rooms, expecting them to be all the same and found that one was a lot smaller that the others.
The restaurant was also very good.

The geographical situation of Hotel Graben is extraordinary - you are in the very heart of Vienna which means that you can easily walk to everything you want to see or visit.
Apart from that everything else - service, rooms, restaurant etc. - is like in a small & friendly family owned hotel.
We will like to come back.
The hotel boasts 4 stars. A fair overall rating would be 3½ stars.
Beware that in high season apparently the hotel tends to overbook and sends "the extras" to Hotel Regina in the same chain but without the same extraordinary situation.

We would recommend this hotel to others as it was comfortabel with friendly staff. Further it was excellent situated in the old town with shopping area's just outside the door. It was certainly good value for the money and all our expectations were met.

The Graben is well situated in the centre of Vienna, very close to Stephansplatz. This means that moving round Vienna is easy, either on foot in the pedestrianised centre or further afield, via the nearby underground station. The hotel itself is clean and well kept. Some of the decor has just the slightest hint of the faded grandeur so prevalent in and around Vienna but this only adds to the pleasant ambience. The room was cleaned and tidied thoroughly every day to a high standard. The staff are helpful and polite and as a non-native German speaker, keen to practise his German, it was pleasing that they spoke in German to me all the time rather than use English. The 72 hour Wienkarte travelcard can be purchased directly from reception, which was very convenient. I would certainly stay there again.
