Renaissance is a 4 star hotel in Washington DC. This hallmark of Washington's luxury hotels opened in 1925 for Calvin Coolidge's inauguration. Franklin Delano Roosevelt wrote, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself" in Suite 776, and J. Edgar Hoover ate here at the same table every day for 20 years. The Mayflower's two-level lobby with its block-long parade of chandeliers is a magnificent neoclassic public space. Rooms are elegant, though on the small side; rooms on the concierge floor have added luxuries such as Italian linens and robes and slippers. Contemporary Mediterranean cuisine is served at the Café Promenade restaurant amid silver, crystal, and flower arrangements. There's also a bar that serves pub fare.This hotel has a total of 807 rooms, of which 10 are suites, set over 16 floors. The inviting lobby has a 24-hour reception with a currency exchange desk, safe, lift access and a cloakroom. There is also a newspaper kiosk, a choice of bars and restaurants as well as Internet access on offer. Room and laundry services, as well as parking facilities are also available.

We would definitely recommend the Renaissance to others. The location is amazing; just minutes from Capital Hill, Museums, China Town, and much more. We stayed for four days, and on the first shower the water pressure was horrible. We called down to the front desk and they had a new shower head installed by the time we came back from dinner. We were in town for a friends wedding, but couldn't afford the rates at the hotel where they blocked rooms. The Renaissance was just as accommodating for a much more reasonable rate. Our expectations were far exceeded by the facility and staff of the Renaissance. Everyone was more than helpful, all of the rooms and outlets were clean and meticulously maintained. Like I said, two thumbs up!
