Built in 1917 across the street from the White House the W is the closest hotel to the First Family. Hosting everyone from presidents to politicians, celebrities to CEOs, socialites to superstars, this was where Elvis met with President Nixon in the 1970s, where Harrison Ford bought rounds of drinks for everyone, where Presidents Clinton and Reagan attended balls, where the President's Thanksgiving turkey trotted on the rooftop before receiving its pardon, where calls to the White House were connected and "The Godfather Part II" was shot on the storied rooftop.
The property also features a spa and fitness center. (12/09:JB) Located in a very historic and important area of DC, the White House is the W's neighbor. Two blocks away are the Red, Orange and Blue Lines at Metro Center to get you to the other areas of the city. The Washington Monument and National Gallery of Art are both one mile away. There are plenty of things to do in the direct vicinity of the W Washington DC The oldest hotel in town has been completely reinvented into W Washington D. C. , revitalizing historic traditions into contemporary sophistication. The lobby is large and bright with plenty of private seating areas. There is also a lobby bar.
